Body and Chassis

1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am body sits on top of a Hal Canode 125 inch wheelbase funny car chassis. This is the original car with some chassis updates including an A-arm front end. Later updates made by Rocky’s Rod Shop to change the drivetrain from Hemi back to Chevy and much more. Strange disc brakes on all four corners and a CNC master cylinder help bring this rocket to a stop. Paint by Kevin Johnson. New Generation Racing’s prepared 427 big block Chevy steel block equipped with high-flowing Brodix aluminum heads and a Crower valve train keeping everything in order. A steel high lift Crane Cam orchestrates the valves with the help of Crower Enduro rocker arms stiffened by a Crane Cams rocker stud girdle. Venolia aluminum blower pistons push the crank gliding smoothly on King Engine Bearings. The Blower Shop 8-71 high-helix race blower sits on top of the big block chevy fed with an Enderle “birdcatcher” injection through an FIE-flowed Enderle 110 mechanical fuel pump. A hot FIE Super Mag magneto, NGK spark plugs and FIE plug wires light the fuse and unleash the power in this engine.


An upgraded vasco input shaft and gear set fill the ATI Powerglide 2-speed transmission with Super case transferring the engine’s horsepower using an ATI 9 inch blower converter. Equipped with a Strange Ford 9 inch floater and 4.11 Pro gears completes putting the Quarter Pounders power to the pavement. 34.5 x 17x 16 M&H Racemaster slicks and 25 inch front tires hook the car and keep it straight down the quarter mile.


DJ Safety products for all safety aspects of the car including the parachutes, driver harness, blower restraint, engine diaper and fire suppression system. Impact Racing helmet and racing jacket and pants with a Simpson head and neck restraint system and DJ Safety fire boots keep the driver safe from harm as well.
